With changes in government policy and proposed financial implications of energy wastage, during 2009 we decided to expand into the energy efficiency field and took on additional workshops and offices to allow us to offer a number of energy efficiency/energy saving services.
Lighting surveys- one of the simplest savings available to companies is replacement of lighting with more efficient models which offer equivalent or better illumination with lower running costs such as LED lamps, electroluminescent and T5 fluorescent lights, we can carry out lighting surveys and work out lighting schemes which can have payback in under 2 years where large amounts of lighting is used such as factories and supermarkets.
We are one of the electrical contractors working for the Co-operative/Somerfield supermarket group throughout the UK carrying out lighting energy reduction schemes involving designing replacement lighting schemes for the shop floor and back of house areas usually using T5 fluorescent & LED spotlights along with lighting controls to save energy, usually achieving total project payback (ROI) within a maximum of 3 years yet usually increasing the overall lighting levels within the stores, we also carry out the same work at Petrol Forecourt installations including dimming of the canopy aisle when no customers are present - click to view samples.
Voltage optimisation- systems can be calculated and installed to match an installations loading that can reduce the voltage level down to 207 Volts where most equipment in the UK still runs as normal with no changed but can save around 30% of energy costs!
Lighting controls- control systems to switch off lights when not required, dim lighting and reduce the running voltage can be designed & installed offering substantial energy savings.
Alternative energy systems- Following the implementation of energy saving initiatives by planning departments such as ‘The Merton Rule’ new installations are increasingly having to include at least 10 % energy savings by alternative sources to get planning approval. To meet this we are now able to offer design and installation of systems such as Wind turbines, Solar Photovoltaic grid tied or off grid systems and Solar water heating and are involved in both Air and Ground Source Heating installations.
